The West Jones Science Club September meeting was held at USM's Lake Thoreau Environmental Education Center in Hattiesburg. The students were introduced to a variety of Mississippi species, including frogs, turtles, and snakes. After viewing an extensive research collection of fish, the club hiked the property and viewed spiders in the wild. The Science Club meets the 4th Tuesday of each month in Room SL1.
