Tennessee
Williams was a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright from Mississippi. In
February, the West Jones Quiz Bowl Team had the opportunity to see a
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College production of Williams’ first Broadway
play, “The Glass Menagerie.” Snippets of Williams’ life are included in the
play, with the overbearing Amanda representing his mother, Laura representing
his frail sister, and his loathsome job in a shoe warehouse based on a real
job. Here is a memorable quote from the play: “…the future becomes the
present, the present the past, and the past turns into everlasting regret if
you don't plan for it.”
